Longjian Road & Bridge Limited Company, a leading construction firm of China, is all set to expand its operations in Himachal Pradesh.
Longjian has been awarded two major road construction projects in Shimla and Una districts.
“My head office in China has just sanctioned $7 million worth of building equipment, most of which will arrive here within the next six weeks to speed up work at our construction sites in Himachal,” Liu Shu Jun, chief representative, Longjian said at a meet organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Indo-China Trade Centre (ICTC) here on Tuesday.
“Longjian is a state-run company and entered India four years ago. We have operations in Bangladesh, Sudan and Kenya, besides having handled 100 large projects in 10 provinces of China,” he said.
“Apart from the road and bridge construction sector, China is exploring possibilities of undertaking projects in hydro-power generation and tourism,” said Hongsen Wang, board member of ICTC.
“We are particularly interested in investing in Himachal as the state borders the autonomous Chinese region of Tibet, besides having abundant natural resources,” said Peng Gang, Economic & Commercial Counselor of the Chinese embassy in New Delhi.
