A 20-member delegation of Indian businessmen will attend the crucial Bechtel conference in Kuwait aiming to bag sub-contracts in the rebuilding of Iraq.
Bechtel has been awarded the initial $34.6 million contract by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID). Bechtel will work on various projects through sub-contractors.
The contract includes emergency repair of the power supply, water and sanitation systems, roads and bridges and public buildings such as schools and hospitals and repairing and repairing and upgrading of the UMM Qasr sea port.

Contracts worth $680 million are planned over the next 18 months to rebuild the war-torn country.
The three- day visit of the Indian businessmen organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) would focus on the opportunities in sub-contracting and acquainting with the members of the Kuwaiti business community.
The mission held a meeting with the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce on Thursday. The meeting identified the opportunities for the Indian and Kuwaiti Industry to work in partnership.
The areas of co-operation enlisted include the energy sector that comprises oil and gas exploration, production, refining, supplying oil field equipment and spares and services.
Pharmaceuticals, information technology, installation and updating of power sub-stations are the other areas of co-operation identified during the meeting.
The privatisation efforts in Kuwait also offers Indian companies opportunities, especially in developing Kuwait
