CII, state govt to organise 'Energy Expo 2004'

The Gujarat chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in association with the state government, will organiseng a three-day international exhibition-cum-conference on energy. The 'Energy Expo 2004', to be held at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), will begin on December 3.
 
About 120 exhibitors are expected to participate in the exposition, which would be spread over 2,800 square meters.
 
"The exposition will bring together business leaders, government and associates to address various issues in energy sector," said a senior official of CII.
 
"All the players of the market would be benefited by the conference and exhibition. The exhibitions has displayed the kind of technology through which not only energy cost would come down but ultimately cost of production would also reduce," he added. The exposition will showcase the latest and emerging technology, including energy saving devices and compressors.
 
The objective of expo is to discuss issues relating to demand and supply management in the energy sector and to deliberate on Indian energy sector in the context of global trend with the aim to impart knowledge on practices and new technologies used in the industry.
 
Major players from the energy industry have confirmed their participation in the three-day expo. Top players to take part in the exhibition are GAIL India, BPCL, Tata power, Wartsilla, Crompton-Greaves, Kirloskar Brothers, Cummins, Forbes Marshall, Thermax, Exide Industries, Vestas RRB and NEG Micon, among others.
 
"Energy is the prime mover in the overall economic development of a country. It also decides the country's competitiveness in the global environment. When India is coming up not only as an emerging player but also as a strong leader, the opportunities seem immense.
 
"CII is making a great effort by covering both the conventional sources such as coal, gas, thermal energy and the non-conventional sources of energy," the CII official said.
