CM to hold meet on children with heart ailments

Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will hold an all-party meeting on Monday on the issue of children with heart ailments.
 
In a bizarre incident which occurred in the city on Saturday, a child with serious heart ailment died on account of extreme stress during a rally wherein scores of such children were made to participate in the hot sun.
 
On learning the tragic incident, the chief minister immediately ordered the authorities to shift all the children to the government and the corporate hospitals for immediate treatment.
 
The doctors concluded that the death of Shobhan, who hails from Karimnagar district, was on account of shortage in oxygen supply to the patient's heart. The police are learnt to be contemplating to book the organisers under criminal charges.
 
In the name of bringing the woes of young heart patients to the notice of the government, the organisers representing 'Madiga Dandora' held a 'state-level convention' on Saturday with the heart patients, unmindful of their fragile health.
 
With the condition of several children who were brought from far-off places deteriorating, a team of officials led by Bhale Rao, secretary of state medical and health department, swung into action to arrange ambulances to shift the children to various hospitals.
 
With the parents of poor children urging the government to come to the rescue of their children, the chief minister called for an all-party meeting to discuss the feasibility of preparing a scheme for providing medical assistance to the poor children suffering from cardiac problems, a press release said.
