Commercial units to pay more taxes in Vadodara

Vadodara Municipal Corporation today proposed 120 per cent hike in property tax and 25 per cent hike in water charges for commercial units. The hike in property tax would yield Rs 35 crore and that for water charges would generate additional income of Rs 2 crore.

Manoj Kumar Das, Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan (VMSS) earlier known as Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) said, "There is no proposal for increase in residential property tax or water charges for residential purpose."Das presented Rs 1,518 crore budget for 2011-12 to the standing committee of VMSS for approval.
