Commotion broke out today at a conference aimed at promoting peace between India and Pakistan when a section of the audience objected to the presence of JKLF leader Yasin Malik as a speaker.
As soon as Malik rose to address the meet here, some Kashmiri pandits stood up, saying he should not be allowed to speak and hurled abuses at him.
When the delegates refused to yield, the police intervened and drove them out of the venue.
On asked why the delegates were whisked away, one of the organisers A Chinoy said, "This is an open forum and people have every right to speak but they should behave properly."
The three-day annual conference- A Road Map Towards Peace- was inaugurated yesterday.
Several intellectuals, dignitaries and leaders from both India and Pakistan are attending the meet.
