Congress nominee and Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizer Bijoy Krishna Handique was leading over his BJP rival Kamakhya Tassa.
Controversial sitting Congress MP Mani Kumar Subba established an early lead of over 2000 votes over AGP's Joseph Toppo in the Tezpur seat, while the party's Ranee Narah was leading over her Independant rival Ronoj Pegu in the Lakhimpur seat.
The party's heavy weight and Union Minister for Heavy Industries Santosh Mohan Dev, however, was trailing behind BJP's Kabindra Purkayastha in the Silchar seat.
Regional party Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal was leading against his nearest Congress rival Anwar Hussain in the Dhubri seat.
The AUDF president, who also contested from Silchar, was trailing in the seat.
In the prestigious Koliabor seat, Congress's Dip Gogoi, brother of chief minister Tarun Gogoi, was trailing behind his AGP rival and former minister Gunin Hazarika, while BJP was leading in two constituencies of Guwahati and Nagaon with their candidates Bijoya Chakravarty and Rajen Gohain respectively surging ahead of their rivals.
