Senior BJP leader L K Advani today said the UPA government and not Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was the "maut ka saudagar" (merchant of death) as it has failed to check terrorism that has made lives of people insecure."It is not Narendra Modi but the Congress-led UPA which is merchant of death as it has failed to take effective measures to check entry of terrorists even in the national capital and thereby rendering lives of common man insecure," Advani told an election rally here.The second and final phase of poll in Himachal Pradesh is slated for December 19."Many people have been killed in different incidents of terrorism across the country. The Central government has failed to initiate effective measures to secure lives of people," he said, reacting to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's comment on "merchants of death".Blaming the Congress for practising vote bank politics, Advani said despite the apex court order, Parliament attack case accused Afzal Guru has not been hanged.Advani pilloried the Manmohan Singh government for failing to check price rise.He said "widespread corruption" was rampant in Himachal Pradesh and the "dishonest governance" was only adding to the miseries of the people.
