The government under its mega project policy has received approved 403 mega projects with assured investment of Rs 3,21,091 crore and 3,57,000 expected jobs. Of the 403 mega projects, 114 projects have gone into production.
The state has achieved 100% power availability against its demand. During last 5 years, distribution transformers have been increased by 2,71,766 while the sub stations rose to 2,689 from 1,800 in 2008-09. The electricity consumers have surged to 21.7 million from 15.6 million. Further, 3.91 million agricultural pump connections have been provided during the same period.

Undeterred by shouting slogans such as Chale Jao Chale Jao Rajyapal Chale Jao (Go back Governor), Alibaba and Sola Bhrashtha Mantri (Alibaba and 16 corrupt ministers), Governor said that the state-run MahaGenco has added thermal capacity of 2,000 MW and solar power capacity of 130 MW. State has emerged as the first in the country to establish Green Energy Fund. As declared on Sunday, the opposition during the 30 minute speech shouted slogans while the members of the treasury members countered it by thumping the benches during the Governor's speech. Opposition was seeking explanation from the Governor why corrupt ministers in the state are protected.
Further, the government has focused on development and up gradation of infrastructure in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra. According to the Governor, the government has proposed Rs 23,136 crore Versova Andheri Ghatkopar metro rail project and the construction is expected to start in 2014-15. Besides, the government has approved metro rail project in Pune with an investment of Rs 10,583 crore and also similar project in Nagpur with an investment of Rs 86,80 crore.
Governor mentioned the government's efforts to effectively tackle the severe scarcity situation during 2013 due to failed monsoons for two consecutive years. He informed that the government has incurred a total expenditure of Rs 2,435 crore including Rs 1,000 crore for providing drinking water and related measures and Rs 1,425 crore for fodder depots and cattle camps.
The Governor said the government has launched the National Food Security scheme from February 1 which will cover 70% rural and 46% urban population.
Moreover, the government has implemented e-office project to bring in paperless office. The government has executed MoU with C_DAC to focus on training, research and content development in Marathi.
