The builders and traders in Chhattisgarh capital are in dilemma. |
For the main opposition party, the Congress, has warned to change the master plan if it comes to power in the state. |
"The new master plan of Raipur has been designed to destroy the city," former chief minister and Congress Member of Parliament Ajit Jogi said while talking to reporters. |
Once the Congress come to power in the state, Jogi said, the government would examine and change the plan. |
With hardly a year left when the state would go to the polls, the statement of Congress stalwart in Chhattisgarh had sparked off a flurry of activities among the builders and traders. |
This diwali was a boom year for builders here as they did good business this season. |
According to the new master plan, the builders and traders had invested on land in the city anticipating change in the land use at par with the new plan. |
"The development has come as a big jolt for the builders, who are running from pillar to post to get more details," a leading builder said. |
Jogi alleged serious corruption in changing of the land use norms under the new master plan 2021 published a couple of months ago. |
"The (BJP-led) government has released the plan without considering all aspects that has no theme of development," Jogi said. |
He alleged that the plan will only help a section and not the people. |
Citing an example, he said that the area near Agriculture University had been converted for commercial use while it should have been kept for academic purposes. |
There were other similar flaws in the plan, he alleged. |
