Congress today regained its control over the board of the Vadodara District Milk Cooperative Union Ltd (VDCMUL), popularly known as Baroda dairy.
In a major blow to BJP-backed candidates contesting for the 15 seats on the board of Baroda Dairy, Congress clinched 11 seats and took the management control of Vadodara District Milk Cooperative Union, which is traditionally considered to be Congress bastion.
Interestingly, two sitting BJP MLAs and one supported by the saffron party lost this time. These three include Baroda Dairy's chairman and BJP's Waghodiya MLA Madhu Shrivastava, Upendrasinh Gohil, MLA from Baroda Rural and Dinesh Parel, a BJP supported independent MLA from Padra constituency.
