Congress repeats most incumbents for RS polls

The Congress today repeated most incumbents in its first list of Rajya Sabha candidates Four ministers "" Murli Deora (petroleum), Prithviraj Chavan (minister of state in the prime minister's office), T Subbirami Reddy and GK Vasan "" are set to be re-nominated.
 
Among the new faces, former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Mukut Mithi and Assam unit chief Bhubaneshwar Kalita have been nominated.
 
The party has also re-nominated its treasurer Motilal Vora from Chhattisgarh. The former chief minister of Manipur, Rishang Keishing, is also set for another term.
 
Ram Prakash from Haryana, Nandi Yellaiah (Andhra Pradesh) and RC Khuntia (Orissa) have also got party tickets.
 
Other names are Jayanthi Natarajan from Tamil Nadu, MA Kahan from Andhra Pradesh, Prabha Thakur from Rajasthan, Alka Kshatriya from Gujarat and SC Marak from Meghalaya.
 
Meanwhile, the Left Front today came out with its list of four candidates from the state. The CPI(M) will retain its three seats and in a peace formula among the Left Front allies, the CPI will be accommodated later on a seat that is currently held by the Forward Block.
 
While Forward Block General Secretary Debabrat Biswas has been re-nominated, his comrade Barun Mukherjee will have to later vacate his seat for the CPI.
