India's fuel consumption grew 2.3 per cent in January though exports fell in the same month.
The nation consumed 11.7 million tonnes of fuel in January against 11.44 million tonnes a year ago, according to the latest data from the Petroleum Ministry.
Diesel sales rose 2.1 per cent at 4.39 million tonnes.
Crude oil imports rose 4.5 per cent to 10.48 million tonnes, while import of products was down 20 per cent at 1.40 million tonnes. Product exports in January fell 12.5 per cent to 3.02 million tonnes, the data said.
