Country will be back to 8% growth soon: Pitroda

The adviser to PM on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations evaded a direct answer when asked about Narendra Modi as PM candidate

Sam Pitroda, adviser to Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations, today expressed confidence that the country will regain the growth rate of 8% soon.

"The Union government is doing its job. For the last ten years, we have been continuously clocking 8% growth. Though it has gone down this year, we'll be able to catch up as soon as possible and achieve same growth rate," Pitroda said on the sidelines of a function here.

On Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being projected as probable Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP, he said, "I love everybody. But I'll not comment on any individual. I wish everyone the best and I work with Chief Ministers of all the states."

He said the Central government was doing its job.

"The Central government has introduced Right to Information Act, Unique Identification Authority, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and is working on electronic fund transfer. But the media is only interested in talking about cricket, gossip and Bollywood,Pitroda said."
