A two-member bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court today delivered a split verdict on a plea by CBI for conducting a lie detector test on former Satyam Computers Chairman B Ramalinga Raju.

While one Justice Gopal Reddy declined permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct polygraph test on Raju, the other, Justice Govinda Rajulu, said that if the investigating officer feels the necessity for the test, he may be allowed to do so.

As per judicial prodcedure, the case will now be referred to a third judge.

Earlier, a local court denied CBI permission to conduct the polygraph test, commonly known as the lie detector test, on Raju. The move prompted the investigating agency to approach the High Court.
