The state council of the CPI on Tuesday requested Bihar Governor A R Kidwai to sack the corrupt Laloo Prasad Yadav government and ensure the arrest of the Chief Minister and other accused in the fodder scam.

A 12-member delegation of the CPI led by its state secretary, Suraj Prasad called on the Governor yesterday and impressed upon him that he had been left with no other choice but to dismiss the government since the Chief Minister had refused to step down even after being chargesheeted in the fodder scam. The memorandum submitted to the Governor questioned the legality of running the government on the advice of Laloo, as Kidwai had given permission to the CBI to chargesheet and prosecute him in the fodder scam.

Since the Chief Minister had refused to relinquish the post on moral grounds, he should be summarily sacked and arrangements should be made for his arrest, CPI leader Bhogendra Jha said.

Yadav, alongwith other accused ministers, were using their position to save their skins. If Yadav is not taken into custody forthwith it will send a wrong signal to the masses.

The state secretary said the Governor gave a patient hearing to them and assured positive steps on the six-point charter of demand made by the delegation. The memorandum said an impartial judicial inquiry into the fodder scam was impossible till Yadav continued as Chief Minister. There is a national consensus for the resignation of Yadav and almost all the political parties had demanded his dismissal. If was allowed to continue it would tantamount to a collapse of democratic norms. The memorandum also said a reign of terror had been unleashed by the JD workers. This was evident from the armed demonstration by party workers, who were joined by ministers before the Governors house and the CBI office in the presence of the district magistrate and senior police officials. Taking into account all these factors, the Governor should recommend imposition of Presidents rule in Bihar, the CPI memorandum said.
