CPI, BJP flay PM for subsidy cut hints

The CPI and the BJP today found themselves on the same side "" condemning the prime minister's hints on subsidy cut in his Independence Day address.

Raising the matter in the Lok Sabha, CPI's Gurudas Dasgupta said, "The PM spoke subsidy cut on kerosene and other pro-poor fuel, which is highly unfortunate."

BJP spokesperson V K Malhotra said: "The common man looks forward to announcements of constructive programmes on Independence Day, not the end of subsidies for the poor and dire warnings of hard times."
