Perturbed by the Nandigram firing revelations, the CPI(M) has decided to petition the prime minister with a complaint against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, here to attend the party's politburo and central committee meetings, said, "We will take up the matter with the Central government. We will talk to the prime minister."

The latest stand-off between the CPI(M) and the CBI occured after media reports quoted the CBI's report before the Calcutta High Court. The report has adverse comments against the party and the state administration on Nandigram violence.

The report allegedly says the CBI didn't get the support of the local police and the state administration to probe the police firing in Nandigram, which killed at least 14 people.
