The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Vikram Srivastava would be replaced by K Vijay Kumar, the man who nabbed sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. Srivastava, who took charge on January 31 this year, is the third serving DG in the 70-year-old history of CRPF to be transferred before his tenure was completed. Srivastava was facing a hard time in the anti-Naxalite operations as the force had suffered huge losses in the past eight months. He is expected to take charge as the Bureau of Police Research and Development.
