Customs and excise duties collections rose 11.9% to Rs 1,22,781 crore in April-October 2007 when compared with Rs 1,09,677 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.Excise duty collections for October 2007 are up 13.5% over the corresponding month last year. Excise duty collections in the first eight months of the current fiscal stood at Rs 64,948 crore when compared with Rs 60,401 crore in the year ago period, an increase of 7.5%.Customs duty collections rose 17.4% to Rs 57,833 crore during the period as against Rs 49,276 crore in the same period a year ago.Service tax collections were up 36.8% to Rs 21,891 crore in April-September 2007 when compared with Rs 15,997 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
