The arguments on the framing of charges against sacked Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee Chief Suresh Kalmadi and others in a Games-related corruption case would commence from February 1, a Delhi court today said.

Special CBI Judge Talwant Singh also decided day-to-day proceedings in the case from tomorrow and has directed the accused be brought to court everyday at 10 am so that they could discuss with their lawyers during scrutiny of documents.

"It is directed that scrutiny work be over by January 31. Arguments on charge will start from February 1 on a day-to-day basis. Set your [counsel] diaries as per that schedule," the court said.

It directed the defence counsel to complete the scrutiny of documents, filed by CBI along with the chargesheet, by the end this month while permitting them to get the deficient documents photocopied by the court machine itself.

"Whatever documents are there on judicial record, you [counsel] can take their photocopies. I am taking up the case on a day-to-day basis. I try to accomodate everyone here but then this allegation comes that there is delay in trial by the court," the judge said.

The court's remarks came while dealing with the applications of various accused that documents provided by CBI, along with the chargesheet, were incomplete or illegible.

"It is directed that all the accused can take any/all the documents which CBI has filed in the court whether relied on or not by it, if the accused thinks that the said copies are required for him for his proper defence.

"The photocopy machine available at the court is at the disposal of the accused from today itself," the court said.
