Baroda will have the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet Tenzin Gyatso this week as he has confirmed his presence at the inauguration of the International Seminar on Buddhist Heritage at the Maharaja Sayajirao University.
Dalai Lama has last visited Gujarat two years back when he had come down to teach leadership at the Indian Institute of Management's Ahmedabad campus.
The conference is likely to be attended by more than 500 Buddhist monks from India and abroad and 200 practicing Buddhists from Gujarat. Around 180 papers would be read including 45 from foreign countries like the UK, US, Japan and Sri Lanka.
The four-day conference starting January 15 will house an exhibition to promote Buddhist tourism in the state. It will in two parts, one aimed at promoting sites in Gujarat from which Buddha's belongings have been excavated and the second display will show material found during excavation drive.
Besides, items relating to Indus Valley civilization will be displayed in the exhibition.
