The petroleum ministry had last year increased the commission to Rs 1.02 per litre on petrol and 60 paise per litre on diesel. The Federation of All India Petroleum Traders now wants more.
"Our daily operating cost has gone up by nearly 37 per cent. We are demanding that our commission be fixed at 5 per cent of our total invoiced sale," said Ajay Bansal, general secretary of the petroleum traders association.
The association wrote to the petroleum ministry three weeks ago seeking an increase in the commission they get from the oil marketing companies to 5 per cent of their invoiced sales. "That ways if fuel prices increase our commission increases, and decreases if it decrease," Bansal said.
He added that the association would meet in Pune on May 17 to decide on the proposed strike. "If by then our commission is not increased we have to resort to the only option we have
