Deals worth Rs 1,000 cr expected in IETF: CII

Industry chamber CII today said it expects business deals worth around Rs 1,000 crore during the upcoming International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) here that will be attended by big brands such as Tata Motors, LG, Toyota and Mitsubishi.

The three-day engineering fair from February 10-12 in the national capital will have 250 companies participating from all over the world.

"We are expecting a business of Rs 1,000 crore this time as the fair is in Delhi. Last year we earned Rs 400 crore when it was organised in Bangalore," former CII President and Chairman (Trade Fairs Council) Rajive Kaul told PTI.

The 19th edition of IETF will focus on eco products and is being organised by industry chamber CII with Japan and UAE among the partner countries.

"Japan is the partner country with its latest technology, with its eco products, UAE is the focus country," Kaul said.

India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar will be there with its latest models of Etios, Fortuner and Corolla and eco-friendly auto components.

The theme of IETF 2011 is 'Green Productivity for Sustainable Energy and Environment'.

He said there is a major increase of consumers who buy and use eco products.

The major participants include the UK, China, Russia, Italy, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

The fair will be inaugurated by Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and UAE's Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Al Qasimi and Japanese Ambassador Hideaki Domichi will also be present.

On the expected footfall, he said, "We are expecting around 25,000 business partners this time from 14,000 in the previous year."

The Water Pavilion, part of the three-day event, will provide sustainable solutions for water management and is being organised in closed association with Delhi Jal Board.

Companies like Jindal Steel, Toshiba, Tata Group, Voltas will exhibit their products ranging from electronic goods, cars, pumps to stainless steel items.
