CLP in Delhi prevailed upon Dikshit for the roll back.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Delhi prevailed upon Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit late tonight to completely roll back the 10 per cent tariff hike effected by private power discoms in July.

"The CLP has unanimously passed a resolution asking the Delhi government to completely roll back the tariff hike," said Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Ram Babu Sharma.

The decision is expected to be ratified by the Delhi Cabinet tomorrow. The Delhi government will give adequate subsidy to the discoms to make up for any losses they may suffer due to the roll-back.

Sources close to the development said the discoms "" the Tatas-controlled North Delhi Power Ltd and the Reliance Energy -managed BSES Yamuna and BSES Rajdhani "" are likely to fall in line with this decision.

Lalit Jalan, executive director of Reliance Energy, told a television channel that the two BSES discoms would support whatever decision the Delhi government took on the issue.

The decision comes after intense public pressure was mounted by local resident welfare associations that paid electricity bills only after deducting the new 10 per cent hike.
