Two days after supporting government's move on demonetisation, Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata advised the government to implement it better. In a statement released on Twitter, Tata said the government should take special relief measures to minimise the trouble that the poor are facing in situations of medical emergencies in smaller towns.
Ratan Tata tweeted:
In an earlier tweet, on Tuesday, he joined the list of businessmen who have supported Modi government's demonetisation policy.
He tweeted:
"Demonetisation of old currency notes by the Modi government is a bold act that will wipe out black money and corruption," said Tata adding "It deserves our support." A month ago Ratan Tata replaced Cyrus Mistry as the Chairman of Tata Sons after sacking him on the ground of non-performance. Mistry who refuted the charge has been fighting a battle on the boards of various Tata Group companies to remain as chairman.
On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision to demonetise currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, leaving all Indians surprised. While many saw it as Modi's masterstroke against black money and corruption, other thought it was a big blunder by the government. The move was aimed at curbing black money, check circulation of fake currency and terror funding. Following the announcements, long queues have been seen outside banks for exchanging and depositing the old currency.
