Impressed with Gujarat’s progressive approach towards energy-efficiency, Denmark Government on Monday expressed its desire to partner with the state in the fields of energy efficiency.
The Demark government is keen to partner the state in its continual growth and for technology transfer under its energy efficiency movement, the Denmark envoy Freddy Swane said while speaking at a seminar ‘Energy Efficiency and Thermal Audit’ at Gandhinagar.
The seminar was jointly by the Gujarat and Denmark governments and saw participation by the urban planners and architectures. Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the seminar, stressed on a need for energy efficiency planning for economic growth. Modi also emphasised on using modern technology while retaining the Indian ethos. He said that in the construction field ‘Modernisation without Westernization’ has to be our motto for the conservation of energy sources. Modi said though science is universal, it was of no use if it cannot be applied locally. “Instead of copying others, one should try to do value addition. Science is universal, but its success is when the technology developed has local application," Modi said.
"With the mantra of modernisation without westernization we can do lot of things," he added. He further appealed to incorporate rain water harvesting mechanism and the solar energy systems in the building construction.
