Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today issued a show-cause notice to its contractor Gammon India, asking it to explain why it should not be blacklisted for two years in connection with the Zamrudpur mishap that killed six people.
DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan had yesterday said Gammon India will be issued a notice which it should reply within 21 days. The show-cause notice has been approved by the directors.
"It was issued to Gammon late in the evening. The notice has been issued legally," a DMRC official told PTI.
He said Gammon has been asked to reply why it should not be blacklisted for two years from participating in Metro contracts.
Sreedharan had yesterday concluded that structural and design deficiencies led to the July 12 mishap. The DMRC also placed under suspension two of its deputy chief engineers and issued a penalty chargesheet to its Chief Engineer (Design) Rajan Kataria. It also blacklisted a design firm for five years.
