The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has assured the Madhya Pradesh government that it would submit a detailed project report for metro rail operations in Bhopal and Indore within six months.
However, the chief of the corporation, Elattuvalapil Sreedharan, also known as ‘metroman of India’, did not speak to the media. A government source told Business Standard that, “Sridharan has communicated with the government during a meeting with state urban administration minister Babulal Gaur, who initiated a dialogue with DMRC for the metro rail project. He (Sreedharan) visited a number of locations to see the probability of metro rail in the state capital.”
An official communiqué was expected after a crucial meeting with higher officials later this evening.
Gaur had earlier announced he was upbeat on the project , which will take at least eight years for completion and an investment of Rs 1,2000 crore.
