Two senior Indian leaders repeated today that India was not in favour of the US unilateralism in an apparent bid to get the United Nations back into the war-torn Persian Gulf, as a spokesman of the Russian government said India and Russia would hold talks to recalibrate positions on the Iraq war.

Speaking in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee hoped the Iraq war would end quickly and added that he had conveyed India's stand that issues should not be resolved through use of force but through the UN to US President George Bush, and the matter should be discussed in the UN.

The trend set by the US by violating UN norms on the contentious issue of Iraq would also affect India to some extent, Vajpayee said.He had written to various nations, including China and France, he added.
