The OBC students seeking to take advantage of quota will have to fill in the section and produce a certificate to prove they do not belong to the creamy layer, Deputy Dean of Students' Welfare, Delhi University, S K Verma said.
"The quota will be implemented from this year. We are increasing the seats by 18 per cent to implement nine per cent OBC quota this year. To keep the creamy layer out of quota ambit, the form will carry the option for non-creamy layer OBC students," he said.
The university will implement the 27 OBC quota staggered over three years. There are about 35,000 seats at the under-graduate level in around 80 colleges under the Delhi University. The number of seats would be increased to over 41,000 this year.
The admission process will start from June two. Students can submit their admission forms from June 2 to June 16. The first cut-off list is expected to come out on June 26, Verma said.
