Electronic transfer of wages to bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNRES) has been extended to all 22 blocks in Ganjam district. The facility was only implemented in Sheragada block of the district earlier.
The new system was inaugurated by the chairman of the Ganjam Zilla Parishad Surath Pradhan at Chhatrapur in the presence of several senior officers including the project director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA). On the first day, the payment of around Rs 4.63 lakh was credited to the accounts of the beneficiaries, sources said.
“Under the electronic benefit scheme, the wages of the beneficiaries will be credited to their bank account directly within a short period” said a government officer. The wages would be directly transferred to their account through the Regional Electronic Clearing Services (RECS), provided by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) without involving the district authorities”, he said.
