The Goa Government was making all efforts to revive tourist arrivals from the UK, a key market from where state-bound traffic has been on the wane, the State Assembly was informed on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said this while responding to a query from Rohan Khaunte, who had questioned the Goa Tourism Ministry's wisdom to take part in the World Travel Mart (WTM), held in London, despite the fact that tourist arrivals from Britain were dropping.

The WTM, held in November 2012, saw participation from Goa whose delegation was led by Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.

"You will see the impact of our participation in WTM in the next year's statistics," Parrikar said.

He said if the UK market is slipping out of hand, then the participation will help regain the confidence of tourists. Khaunte pointed out nearly Rs 1 crore was spent on the delegation which took part in the event.
