The first flight of Emirates took-off from the Begumpet airport here to Dubai today. The commencing of the flight service is expected to be establish a direct link between the city and the Middle East.
Emirates plans to operate eight flights weekly between the two points. The company would operate Airbus A330-200 in a three-class configuration, offering 18 seats in the first, 42 in the business and 183 seats in the economy classes in the non-stop service.
On Sunday, receiving the first Emirates flight from Dubai to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu described the new link as the first step towards realisation of his dream of making the city a transit hub between Europe and China.

Naidu promised to make the international airport under construction at Shamshabad operational in four years. Facilities at Begumpet airport will be further strengthened to receive more international flights.
