The growth of India's export of engineering goods in dollar terms, which stood at 36 per cent last year, will come down to 12 per cent in the current financial year, on account of rupee appreciation, according to Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) chairman, Rakesh Shah. |
Shah said export of engineering goods was valued at $27 billion in 2006-07 as against $20 billion during 2005-06. In the current financial year, the export value was estimated to be $30 billion. |
He, however, said every exporter would adjust to the new situation in the long-run, though rupee appreciation was a major concern of exporters today. |
EEPC, the apex body of engineering exporters in India, will be holding a three-day engineering meet and exhibition (Ieme) here from January 9, 2008. A two-day global conference on engineering process outsourcing (EPO) will also be held coinciding with the event. |
Shah said Ieme would showcase 100 Indian manufacturers and exporters primarily from the small and medium enterprises (SME) sector. Besides, 60 exhibitors from overseas would display their product range. More than 150 buyers from across the globe would also be invited and B2B meetings would be arranged. |
The EPO meeting, on the other hand, would be attended by users of India's design and technology. |
