The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) today continued its investigation into the Rs 27 crore fund siphoning case registered against former director of the Jaihind Co-operative Bank (JCB) Ashok Advani and made efforts to get original bank documents.

According to a senior police official, the police were so far not being furnished the transaction details (read documents) by the JCB regarding funds from the savings account held by the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board (HNCB) being transferred to Business India Television (BITV) and other firms.

"Today, the investigation by our investigating sleuths (VR Shende and R Pathak) focussed around securing the original documents from the JCB," he said.

Meanwhile, the counsel for publishing magnate Ashok Advani deferred the filing of a fresh bail application before the Mumbai High Court for a couple of days.

According to a junior counsel representing Advani, the police is likely to effect further arrests in the case which has delayed their plans for filing for bail in the Mumbai High Court.

"However, we have prepared the bail application which is yet to be numbered by the circulation department of the High Court so it may be put up before the honourable court," the counsel said.
