Ethanol-blended petrol would be made available in entire state by June 30, announced Ram Naik, the union minister of petroleum, here. Already ethanol-blended petrol has been launched in several parts of Karnataka on May 9.
As against the scheduled date of January 1, 2003, ethanol- blended petrol could not be launched, as the sugar industry was not in a position to supply anhydrous ethanol, the minister explained.
Now the problem is over as five sugar factories--Ugar Sugar, Samsung Distillery, Renuka Sugar, Godavari Sugar and Chamunda Sugar-- have created capacity of producing 36,000 KL anhydrous ethanol per year, he added.
