The universities in Orissa should strive to become the hubs of research and innovation and the distinguished Oriya professors settled in the USA can help achieve this objective.
This was pointed out by the US based Oriya educationists to the visiting high-level delegation from the state during a brain storming session on 'Innovation and Development of Higher Education in Orissa' at San Francisco
The eminent NRI educationists Prof Jogesh Pati, Prof L N Bhuyan, Prof Digambar Mishra, Prof Chitta Barala and Prof Abani Patra took part in this discussion.
The seminar was organized coinciding with the 41st Annual Convention of Odisha Society of Americas.
The convention was inaugurated by Debi Prasad Mishra, the state minister for tourism, higher education and culture.
In his address, Mishra appealed to the non-resident Oriyas to contribute to the state by getting involved in different emerging opportunities and be a partner in progress of the state.

The delegation from Orissa also consisted of IT minister Ramesh Majhi; minister for revenue and disaster management S N Patro; Bhubaneswar MLA Ashok Panda; industries secretary Saurabh Garg; higher education secretary Madhusudhan Padhee and commerce and transport secretary Satyabrat Sahu.
