In less than two years, Gupta, who was instrumental in making the state-owned Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd (GSPCL) a leader in the oil and gas sector as its managing director, diversified the Adani group to the oil and gas sector and the special economic zone (SEZ) business. The group is also planning to enter the road sector, airports and coal mining.
