Export stimulus still needed: Scindia

The Commerce ministry is pushing for the continuation of incentives to the export sector for in order to aid the recovery process.

A request has been made to the Finance Ministry to continue with incentive schemes, Union minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya Scindia said, with a specific focus on getting cheaper dollar credit for exporters, extending the EoU (Export Oriented Units) benefits as well as extending the interest subvention scheme.

“We haven’t defined how long this (incentive scheme) need to continue for, but we have said it needs to be in place. I would like to see the stimulus until there is complete recovery,” he said on the sidelines of an event organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce here on Tuesday.
