Exporters Sore Over High Inland Haulage Charges

Bizarre as it may seem, it costs Rs 25,000 to take a twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) container from Delhi to Mumbai by train, while the same cargo reaches Singapore from Mumbai in just Rs 4,000.

Terming the high inland haulage charges as the biggest stumbling block for growth of the export sector, north Indian traders have demanded a subsidy for out-bound cargo.
