Expressing concern over the fall in the rupee against the US Dollar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said he was in touch with the Centre for a stimulus to the industries to prevent job losses.

"I am planning to have meetings with the captains of the industry in Delhi as well as in the state. I am in touch with the Centre to get stimulus for the industries, so that there should not be job-losses," Chavan told reporters here.

"Auto sector will be affected," Chavan said, adding that the fall in rupee will have an impact on the diesel prices too. If the US waged a war on Syria, then prices of crude oil will rise sharply, he added.

The rupee closed at a new all-time low of 68.80 today.
