Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Faridabad have urged the Haryana government to issue guidelines to the district industries centres regarding the registration of small-scale industries (SSIs). |
Hundreds of such small units which have set up base in the non-conforming areas are being deprived of the benefits of the subsidy and reimbursement schemes of the ministry of SSIs, for the development and promotion of the small and medium enterprises. |
"While a new unit in the non-conforming area gets power connection, registration under sales tax, central excise, and labour is done, only the district industries centre, whose primary job is to register and record new industries, refuses to do so," Rajiv Chawla, general secretary, Faridabad Small Industries Association (FSIA) said. |
The DIC offices have no records of the number of small scale industries which have come up during the last four years. |
"While there are 14,000 small industries here, the Haryana Development Authority and the Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation have provided only 3,000 industrial plots till date," Chawla said. |
In view of the Haryana government's announcement to come out with a new industrial policy, the FSIA has urged the authorities to provide the infrastructure for setting up flatted factories' complexes for different clusters like electronic industries and light engineering industry. |
"The state government has to come out with a clear-cut policy for the SSIs, with a single window clearance facility at the district level," added Ravi Vasudev, an FSIA executive. |
The Centre offers a number of benefits to the registered SSIs to enhance their potential. While the SSIs are being reimbursed up to Rs 75,000 for the ISO certification, they can also avail a subsidy of Rs 40,000 for credit rating. |
Apart from this, there are also a number of other benefits including subsidy on capital, which are available only to the registered units. |
The industries association has said that though industries in non-confirming areas signal a poor standard of living for the township, not registering or recording their existence is not a solution. |
The association said it was necessary to register these industries so as to plan their relocation. |
