Based on findings of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) special audit report that has pointed irregularities committed by the Chandigarh administration in allotting the land in Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (RGCTP)( earlier known as IT park), Manimajra Farmers’ Welfare & Environment Protection Society has demanded immediate release of land of farmers acquired by the UT administration for bogus development projects. MHA last year had conducted an audit on the land allotments done for the IT parks in Chandigarh and based on its findings, it had pointed out serious irregularities committed by the UT administration while allotting the land.
The Manimajra Farmers Welfare & Environment Protection Society that represents, farmers, landless laborers, agricultural workers, rural artisans, had been vehemently protesting the UT acquisition of land from farmers for the IT parks in Chandigarh which according to them favoured the companies at cost of farmers.
With the MHA pointing out serious irregularities on part of UT administration the farmers’ body has demanded land of innocent farmers acquired for bogus development projects be immediately released.
