"Intelligence reports suggests that the on-going agitation by farmers over fertiliser and sowing seeds scarcity is politically motivated. There is obviously some political hand behind the protests," Yeddyurappa told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

"There is a conspiracy to taint my government's image," he said without referring to any political outfit or leader.
"For the first time the state has been witnessing such a stir. This amply demonstrates that there is a conspiracy against my government", he said.

"Strict vigil is being maintained against traders who resort to hoarding and authorities have been directed to ensure adequate supplies to farmers," he said.

Meanwhile, there is no let up in protests by the farming community in parts of Davanagere, Hanan, Hubli, Dharwad and Kolar, even after the state government assured them that it would ensure supply of fertilisers and seeds.
