FIEO joins hands to aid exporters in UP

The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Bureau (Lucknow) to help the exporters of Uttar Pradesh.
 
A training programme was organised in Lucknow today on "WTO and Export Marketing Procedures and Documentation" for the purpose.
 
The four-day training programme, which starts today, aims to touch upon the important aspects of foreign trade policy, discussing in detail about the various export-promotion schemes, export financing and insurance, customs and central excise procedures.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Badshah Singh, minister of state for industry, stressed upon the need of acquiring knowledge of the working of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and foreign trade related marketing information.
 
He also stressed on the use of modern techniques and logistics to enable exporters and entrepreneurs to compete with exporters from other countries.
 
"Lucknow has great export potential in the field of Chikankari, hosiery, dress material, plastic items and light engineering and automotive components but the exports of these commodities has not taken off at the desired level of growth," informed Dr RK Dhawan, chairman (NR), FIEO. He further added that this was the main purpose of the training, to equip the entrepreneurs to increase their participation in exports.
 
Dr Dhawan expressed his confidence that this programme, supported and conducted by the faculty of highest caliber from the IIFT, will be immensely useful for the exporters of this area and will help in increasing UP's share in India's exports.
