FOREIGN INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS: Negative list to keep off undesirable firms to be circulated
The promise to streamline the registration process of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) has been met with since the foreign investing community has been fighting a battle to ensure speedier registration in India.
They have been looking at a system of pre-determined criteria for the selection of FIIs which desire to operate in the country, on the fulfillment of which the foreign entities can commence operations in India immediately.

According to FIIs, the lengthy registration process, which includes a screening process, deters many of them from coming into India since other Asian countries accommodate them immediately.
