Fire at Alang yard, 8 injuredHimanshu Bhayani / Bhavnagar, Gujarat February 17, 2006A major fire broke out at the Alang ship-breaking yard in Bhavnagar this afternoon injuring eight people.Manoj Makwana, Bhavnagar resident deputy collector, said the exact reason for the incident is yet to be ascertained.The fire broke out at yard number V-5 owned by Kishor Bansal, and flames started gushing out of the engine room of the ship, which was being dismantled. The ship was shifted away from the shore to avoid further damage.A team of fire-fighters from the Alang-Sosiya Ship breaking yard rushed to the spot on receiving the news. Meanwhile, fire-fighters from Bhavnagar have also rushed to the spot to combat the situation.
