Satish Panchariya, director of Ahmedabad-based software firm Alka Infotech, registered his company with the Gandhinagar Software Technology Park of India (STPI) in 1999 to take advantage of the booming software sector.
Today, he wants to cancel his registration. The reason: There are no work orders from companies abroad and within India. Also, the STPI provides bandwidth at almost three times the rate available outside, he says.
Another major IT company shifted most of its employees to its offices in Pune and Bangalore. The company has orders from foreign partners, but they have laid down just one condition - the work must not be done in a Gujarat they see as
