State to submit damage report to Centre on Thursday.
The current devastating flood that has affected 19 districts of the state has caused a loss of Rs 2,120.92 crore.
The flood loss assessment has been made by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on the basis of detailed reports received from the district collectors. The state government will send the report to the Government of India on Thursday.
"The total loss in the current flood has been assessed at Rs 2,120.92 crore. The loss assessment has been compiled on the basis of reports received from the district collectors. The flood damage will figure in our memorandum to the Centre which we will send tomorrow,” said Special Relief Commissioner, Pradipta K Mohapatra.
The distribution of damage assessment among various government departments is as follows- the loss of works department (Rs 226.75 crore), rural development (Rs 372 crore), panchayati raj (Rs 442.27 crore), water resources (Rs 728.58 crore), school & mass education (Rs 86.50 crore), health & family welfare (Rs 12.36 crore), energy department (Rs 15.56 crore) and housing & urban (Rs 74.50 crore) for development.
Mohapatra informed that Puri and Kendrapara have been the worst hit districts. The flood has ravaged 116,000 houses which includes 37,435 houses in Kendrapara district and around 27,000 houses in Puri district.

The death toll in the flood has climbed to 41 with 10 persons still missing. The flood has also inundated 0.29 million hectares of crop area.
Within the department of rural development, the flood has damaged rural roads worth Rs 363.65 crore while there has been loss of Rs 8.99 crore towards supply of drinking water.
While damage to roads & bridges has been estimated at Rs 442.27 crore, Rs 617.17 crore has been earmarked for embankments, Rs 34.30 crore for drainage, Rs 7.02 crore for minor irrigation, Rs 39.55 crroe for lift irrigation, Rs 86.50 crore for primary education buildings, Rs 55 crore for roads and drains, Rs 19.50 crore for urban water supply and Rs 15.56 crore for restoration of electricity.
The state government has spent Rs 162.77 crore on pure relief work like ex-gratia, clothing and utensils, supplementary nutrition, agriculture input subsidy, evacuation of people, air dropping, hiring of boats, assistance to artisans, temporary accommodation and temporary shelter material.
